Love is love. And your videographer should believe that too.

Same Sex Wedding Videography

Speaking from my own experiences in a long term same-sex relationship, it's easy to forget that there are still cases of discrimination across the globe and in the UK -  and in this day and age. Thankfully, I've never felt excluded in that way and most of the wedding suppliers I've worked alongside have always been so welcoming. To most, it's a none-issue. Whilst myself and my partner Andy are yet to tie the knot, we talk about it all the time and know how important it would be for us to be able to relax and enjoy our wedding day the way we intended.

When picking your photographer and videographer for your big day I always tell my clients "book the style you love, and who you feel comfortable around" - it's quite a commitment to spend a whole day (the biggest day of your life!) alongside wedding professionals who I believe should be likeminded, approachable and who you can feel relaxed around. I really believe that when you book a supplier for your wedding you're investing in not only their product, but also the person and their beliefs too.

One of my favourite wedding photographers, Nicola Dawson Photography, has some gorgeous photos in her vast portfolio of same sex couples. I'm proud to say that I've worked alongside her on a shoot and she is professional, kind and relaxing to be around so I can see why she is a popular choice when selecting the perfect photographer for your same sex wedding. Check out more of her lovely work on her website & Instagram

A wedding video complements your photographer perfectly - you'll have both gorgeous stills that capture a moment in time, as well as video for those moments you may have missed. Video is a great way to listen back to the speeches, the ceremony audio, any readings you may have and also to hear the voices of grandparents and relatives. Sometimes a voice can really take you back to a time and place and can be a really emotional experience. Quite frequently the videographer is one of the last things on your list to book so I really advise booking in advance, especially if your date isn't far away.

Often my clients worry about feeling self conscious and a little apprehensive about having a camera follow them round all day. The thing to remember is I focus on the natural shots as time slips by - capturing all the emotion from a distance and you'll hardly know I'm there. No posed shots here, just natural, documentary style footage working alongside your photographer. I'm also a qualified drone operator, so one of my specialities is including some cinematic shots of your venue in the opening sequence of your wedding film for some extra impact! You'll be surprised how pretty things look from a bird's eye view.

I always prefer to meet my clients for a coffee either before or after they book. That way you can both decide if I'm the right videographer to capture your big day with absolutely no obligation to go ahead.
